Ex-Michigan star Chris Webber says current AD apologized over scandal fallout

Chris Webber was disciplined by the school over the fallout from the 2003 plea

Chris Webber said he received an apology from Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel about the fallout from the investigation over claims he had generic money from a booster throughout the Fab Five era.

Webber pleaded guilty in 2003 to a criminal contempt fee and admitted he repaid former booster Ed Martin round $38,000 for what he called a loan he generic when he was a celeb basketball participant at the school, in step with ESPN.

He told the hole he acquired a personal apology from Manuel, who have become the athletic director in 2016, over the fallout of the investigation that ended inside the college breaking away from Webber for a decade and putting off his stats from the school’s file books.

"I become instructed through the athletic director on the University of Michigan that he was sorry," Webber advised ESPN. "And he wasn't even there at the time [I was playing]. He informed me that he did his research and that he needs to express regret. His genuine words [were] he desires 'to express regret to the 18-12 months-vintage Chris Webber because we did not shield him.’"

William C. Martin served as the athletic director when Webber pleaded guilty. Dave Brandon and Jim Hackett observed Martin until Manuel took over in 2016.

Webber is about to be inducted into the Naismith Hall of Fame for his achievements in seasoned basketball.

The former NBA All-Star has been back to Michigan for the reason that scandal. He seemed on the sideline at a Wolverines soccer recreation in 2018. When Juwan Howard took over the guys’s basketball application, Webber instructed TMZ Sports he’d be willing to come returned to cease the feud.
